AND THEN THE STORM CAME

04/19/2025- 2152 hours: Franklin County Emergency Services issued an adverse weather advisory- severe thunderstorms- for the southern portion of the county including our response area.. and Mother Nature kept her word. Seven minutes later, crews responded to assist with an inside odor of smoke in Company 9's area that was complicated by downed trees and wires in the route of travel. Then the calls for wires, trees and poles down, overturned tractor-trailers, automatic fire alarms and residential electrical problems flooded the first due- as did requests for EMS. Crews prioritized and responded to each call- both through the 911 Center and from the station's non-emergency number. While the strong winds lasted for a relatively short time, the impact- to utilities, infrastructure and buildings- will last much longer.
We appreciate your patience as work continues with our municipalities, residents/businesses, Emergency Management, utility providers and those impacted to get services restored. THANK YOU to our members and staff, Antrim Township, Greencastle, law enforcement, County and State departments, automatic aid agencies and EVERYONE that reached out or provided assistance. Many of the crews working in the area are not familiar with what a great community we have. We are- you're the best! Please stay safe.
